Here Trish shares her discovery of Pilates and its benefits as well as her journey to becoming a Surrey based fully qualified Modern Pilates and Body Control Pilates Certified Teacher™ and member of the Register of Exercise Professionals.
I taught myself Pilates around 9 years ago to complement my outdoor activities. I very soon discovered a fabulous studio on my doorstep and started attending weekly classes, which added the missing dimension…feedback from a teacher!
Regular practise saw great improvements in my strength, tone, posture and balance. Not to mention the centred and relaxed feeling I would come away with after each class.
It was later I realised the benefits of Pilates in rehabilitation and injury prevention, in helping with my own body’s peculiarities and injuries I had picked up during my life, through a combination of challenging sports and conversely, the hazards of the sedentary nature of a corporate lifestyle.
It was after taking a little time out of this corporate lifestyle (travelling) that I decided I wanted to train to teach Pilates so I could help others enjoy the benefits I do. Always active and health conscious, l loved the idea that Pilates would be a good form of exercise through all stages and at all ages of my life.
Continuing my thirst for development and after practising with a Body Control Pilates studio following a move to Surrey, I have also qualified as a Body Control Pilates Certified Teacher™ and am expanding my studio equipment repertoire.
With a focus on precision, my classes will help you develop balance throughout your body, building strong stable muscles that are also flexible and correctly aligned.
Come along and enjoy the physical benefits and the relaxation and mental focus that each session provides.
